The first hours after the procedure

After treatment, the anaesthesia takes effect, but the tissues remain sensitive. During this period, it is important to avoid injury and overloading the tooth.

What needs to be done

  • do not eat for at least 2 hours or until the effects of the anaesthetic have completely worn off;
  • avoid chewing on the treated side;
  • avoid putting pressure on the tooth with the temporary filling;
  • in case of discomfort, take painkillers as recommended by your dentist.

Well-being in the coming days

After endodontic treatment, residual sensations related to the healing of the tissues around the tooth root may occur.

What is considered normal

  • sensitivity or pain;
  • sensation of pressure when biting;
  • gradual reduction of symptoms over a few days.

Symptoms that require a doctor's consultation

In rare cases, complications may arise that require immediate consultation.

When to see a dentist

  • the pain worsens or does not decrease;
  • swelling appears;
  • the body temperature rises;
  • unusual or sharp symptoms occur.

Root canal treatment is only part of the process. Final restoration of the tooth is a necessary step.
