Plaster on the face

The plaster serves as a visual reminder of the area affected by the anaesthesia.

What you need to know

  • the doctor applies a plaster in the anaesthesia area;
  • the plaster helps the child remember that their lips or cheek are numb;
  • do not remove the plaster until full sensation returns.

Observation of the child

After anaesthesia, the child may not feel pain and may inadvertently injure soft tissues.

What to pay attention to

  • observe the child for a few hours;
  • check if the child is biting their lips, cheeks, or tongue;
  • if necessary, gently remind them not to touch the anaesthesia area.

Cold compress or ice cream

Cold helps to reduce swelling and discomfort after the procedure.

How to apply

  • apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek (in short intervals, without causing overcooling);
  • or offer ice cream at an appropriate temperature.

Actions in case of injury

If the child has injured their lip or mucous membrane, it is important to act correctly.

What to do:

  • seek medical advice;
  • do not use medicines or remedies without a prescription;
  • avoid self-medicating injuries to the mucous membrane of the mouth.
