Children from birth to 3 years

During this period, the foundation of hygiene skills and the health of milk teeth is established.

How to take care of your teeth

  • use a finger brush;
  • clean the mouth with wet wipes for baby teeth;
  • after the first tooth appears, use fluoride toothpaste with up to 500 ppm;
  • brush teeth under parental supervision.

Children aged 3 to 6 years

Milk teeth play an active role in chewing and shaping the bite, so they require regular care.

Basic rules

  • use a soft-bristled children’s toothbrush;
  • apply toothpaste with 1000 ppm fluoride;
  • the amount of toothpaste should be the size of a pea;
  • gradually introduce dental floss into your daily routine.

Children aged 6 to 12 years

During this period, there is a change from milk teeth to permanent teeth, which requires special attention.

Recommendations

  • use fluoride toothpaste with 1000–1450 ppm;
  • a pea-sized amount of toothpaste;
  • regularly use dental floss;
  • continue parental supervision.

Children aged 12 to 16 years

Independent responsibility for oral hygiene is being developed.

What is important

  • brush your teeth twice a day independently;
  • use fluoride toothpaste;
  • if necessary, use additional products, including mouthwashes;
  • visit the dentist twice a year.

The use of electric and ultrasonic toothbrushes

Modern brushes can enhance cleaning quality when used correctly.

When permitted

  • ultrasonic toothbrushes can be used from the age of 3;
  • they should be used under adult supervision;
  • follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Hygiene after illness

After illnesses, bacteria may remain on the brush.

What needs to be done

  • replace the toothbrush with a new one after recovery or carry out thermal treatment on the brush;
  • do not use the old brush without treatment.
